so i was just introduced to paramore (specifically an acoustic performance of misery business) and honestly i was really excited. hayley williams has a very strong, interesting voice, and in that specific performance (i listened to the 'album version' also to be thorough) her vocalizations definitely take center stage. i listened to a couple more songs though and instead of this brilliant vocalist shining through she just meekly followed while the bands generic pop punk/rock/blah sound demanded the limelight. it pains me to say that the more i hear the more i'm forced to compare her to the likes of caithlin de marrais of rainer maria instead of of strong independent female vocalists like janis joplin, chan marshall, and regina spektor. and in the words of hayley
